PicoSure® by Cynosure. The difference lies in the trillionth of a second.
In 2013 the PicoSure was the first picosecond laser with FDA approval for tattoo and pigment removal. I've worked exclusively with it since 2016, and to this day it's my only device, because it simply works best for facial pigment.
Pressure instead of heat
The pulse is so short that the pigment shatters mechanically before it can heat up. Less heat means less redness, less crusting and practically no risk of scarring.
Finer fragments
The lymphatic system can clear smaller particles faster. That's why with the PicoSure you usually need about half as many sessions as with a nanosecond laser.
Safe for all skin types
The 755 nm wavelength largely leaves melanin alone. Even with darker skin the risk of light or dark patches is low.
Legally certified
Since June 2024, only people with a certificate of competence (V-NISSG) may laser pigment in Switzerland. My clinic is FOPH-certified and the device is serviced annually.

Since 1 June 2024, only people with a Swiss federal certificate of competence may use lasers on the skin in Switzerland. I passed the exam in August 2024. For you that means proven safety instead of an imported laser from an online shop.

Questions about the technology
What sets the PicoSure apart from a Q-switched laser?
The pulse duration. Picoseconds instead of nanoseconds means around a thousand times shorter pulses, more pressure effect, less heat, smaller pigment fragments and therefore fewer sessions.
Is the laser suitable for dark skin?
Yes. The PicoSure's 755 nm wavelength is comparatively gentle on melanin. I adjust the energy to your skin type and always do a test shot.
Why do you work with only one device?
Because I know it inside out. Ten years with the same system means I choose the settings for every pigment colour and skin depth from experience, not from the manual.
Is the treatment regulated in Switzerland?
Yes, since June 2024 under V-NISSG. Laser treatments may only be carried out with a certificate of competence. My clinic is certified accordingly.
